Does Non Alcoholic Beer Taste The Same

Freixenet was born in 1911 when Dolores Sala Vive (granddaughter of the founder of Casa Sala) and Pedro Ferrer-Bosch (of the La Freixeneda family), married in Catalunya.

Over the decades, Freixenet has grown into a Spanish sparkling wine powerhouse.

By the year 2000, total production exceeded a mind blowing 200 million bottles, and accounted for over half of all Spanish sparkling wine production.

Why have Freixenet joined the alcohol free party?

The alcohol free wine market is currently valued at $1.6 billion and is set to grow at over 10% per year (CAGR) to $4.5 billion by 2031.

If you are a big player in the wine world with the ability to get a slice of this fast growing market, that is exactly what you do.

There will be a lot of first mover advantages and Freixenet is already available in many supermarkets around the world.

The Freixenet 0.0 Range

Freixenet have developed 2 sparkling wines to meet this market demand. They have a white and a rose option.

Interestingly these “wine based drinks” are 90% dealcoholised wine with added concentrated grape must.

I presume this is to add more grape flavour post fermentation to make it lighter and more fruity than would otherwise be the case. Im not sure it makes much difference knowing its only 90% wine does it?

Freixenet Sparking Rose 0.0

Freixenet 0.0% sparkling wine (Rose) review

Winery – Freixenet

Country – “From EU” on the bottle

Style – Sparkling white

KCal – 25 (100ml)

ABV – 0.0%

Sugar content – 5.4g (100ml)

Carbohydrate content – 6g (100ml)

Tasting – The look is a lovely bubbly rose. There is a nice aroma from it. Some red fruit and sweetness. On actual tasting… Best yet?! Big shout here but ive tried a lot of non alcoholic and alcohol free sparkling wines at this point.

This one tastes like Cava. There is a nice full flavour. You get some some strawberry and apples on the palate. Good amount of fizz. The after taste is how you would want. It is sweet and tastes sweet but it’s good

Verdict – 9/10. Would most definitely buy and drink again! Well done all at Freixenet.

Who else tried it?

I drank this (as i have most of my sparkling wines) with my wife and sister in law. Both were very impressed and felt this drank like a real Cava. They couldn’t taste the difference really.

When would you drink it?

Ive written many articles about why to drink non alcoholic wine. If you have to drive, are a pregnant or breastfeeding mum and even for the calorie savings. For even more reasons read here

For this wine specifically i can see it being used for special occasions and weekend nights. Its very versatile, light and easy going. Its pretty cheap, can and should be used whenever you want to put a smile on your face.

Winery – Freixenet

Style – Sparkling white

KCal – 25 (100ml)

ABV – 0.0%

Sugar content – 5.4g (100ml)

Carbohydrate content – 6g (100ml)

Tasting – First sip and this is a very nice tipple. Full mouth feel and lots of bubbles. Apples and melons on the palate. Its pretty sweet as the 5.4g/100ml sugar content will point to. My wife loved it immediately. Im not sure i see it as sophisticated or adult feeling as some other 0.0% sparkling wines I’ve tried, i think thats because the sweetness makes it feel like more of a soft drink than a wine. That said, it is really nice!

I think you can definitely tell that there is added grape concentrate. Its a bigger grape hit and less wine hit. It does feel more like Shloer and not quite a dealcoholised wine. For a certain occasion tho, you probably won’t mind.

Verdict – 7/10. If you aren’t looking a sparkling wine replacement but want something fizzy and a bit fun then this is for you. It does taste fruity and lively if a bit sweet.

Who else tried it?

I drank this (as i have most of my sparkling wines) with my wife and sister in law. Both liked it but just less than the rose. It was a good Cava replacement. They couldn’t taste the difference really. I marked it down because i felt it tasted sweeter (same sugar) and not a nice flavours as the other

When would you drink it?

Same as the Rose really. However if you are only buying one, you know which one i’d be recommending!

Review Overview
SUMMARY

The Rose is much better than the white and the one to try in my opinion
