McGuigan is a big hitter in the entire wine field and they have targeted the alcohol free section with 4 different alcohol free wines.
They have…
- Sauvignon Blanc Zero
- Sparkling Zero
- Rose Zero
- Shiraz Zero
Hailing from the Hunter Valley in Australia, i’ll be sampling their Sauvignon Blanc Zero today. I was quite impressed with their other wines so hopefully this follows suit.
The Nutrition
Alcohol – 0.0%
Calories – 24kcal per 100ml
Carbohydrates – 6g per 100ml
Sugar – 4.2g per 100ml
Pretty standard for a non alcoholic or alcohol free white wine. The calories are low, the sugar of 4.2g per 100ml is slightly high but there are many whites with a far higher number and especially the sparkling wines.

The Look
What to say, it looks like a Sauvignon Blanc. It is pale, crystal clear and inviting.
The Aroma
You get a good hit from the sharp green type of fruit. Apples and gooseberry.
The Taste
On the first sip is that acidic hit of sav blanc!
It’s unmistakable as a sav blanc in fact. Dry tasting, acidic, crisp. Citrus and gooseberry
It ends with a powerful flavour that lingers.
I’m not sure everyone would know that’s alcohol free. Except for that price point it would most likely be nasty and not balanced.
I actually opened this for testing and then used it to make a cassoulet. I have to say i would not have known the difference and this was a perfect wine to cook the French classic with.
The Verdict
I thought this was a very good non alcoholic white. It had classic Sauvignon Blanc characteristics, there was nothing nasty about it and i can imagine me sipping this on a hot summers afternoon, happy there is no alcoholic in it and i can go about my day.
The Score
8/10 – One of the better non alcoholic white wines i have tried.

McGuigan Notes
Aromas of gooseberry and citrus. On the palate, its medium bodied but really refreshing. Flavours of passion fruit, lime with a vibrant and long finish. Pair well with roast chicken, mixed peppers frittata or just as delicious on its own.
