Galactic milk stout review
Brewery – Big Drop Brewing Co
Country – UK
What type of beer is Galactic Milk Stout?
Galactic Milk stout is you guessed it, a milk stout!
ABV – 0.5%
KCal – 27 (100ml)
Sugar content – 3.1g
Carbohydrate content – 6.7g
IBU – 35
That is a fairly hefty added sugar and carb load. In a lager that would be too sweet but im going to guess in this stout they will get away with it. The sugar is likely lactose.
Classically styled Big Drop can, i like the cans to the bottles myself.
The beer itself is dark and looks more fizzy than a normal
Nice coffee, malt and chocolate on the nose.
A really interesting mix of that heavy stout flavour with the lighter porter feel. Who cares about ABV and alcohol free here, this is a serious beer no matter what. Im from Ireland and have drank plenty of stouts of all descriptions and this stacks up. Well played.
The only slight negative is a bit high in sugar and carbs from the lactose added for silky mouthfeel.
You get all the coffee, chocolate type notes you would want and more. It is no wonder this has won its fair share of awards.
It drinks more like a porter than a stout. It’s lighter in the mouth with a touch of fizz.
Excellent. If you are looking for something a bit different thats packed with flavour then this is for you.
8.5/10. Dropping a few for the nutrition but a lovely beer this
Find out where this beer ranks compared to all the beers i have reviewed on my updated “Best Non Alcoholic Beers” page
Is Galactic Milk Stout halal?
Galactic Milk Stout is a “non alcoholic” 0.5% ABV beer, so there is doubt as to if it can be Halal.
Ive researched this extensively and believe that 0.5% drinks can be Halal as i do not think they can get you drunk.
Ive written about the different types of non alcoholic and alcohol free gins and if they are Halal here
If you wanted to be super cautious then i would suggest not to consider 0.5% ABV drinks like Atomic Blonde as halal and only the true 0.0% ones.
Is Galactic Milk Stout gluten free?
Galactic Milk Stout is gluten free. They confirm on their website as well.
I have an entire article on non alcoholic beers and gluten if you want more information.
Is Galactic Milk Stout vegan?
No, not surprisingly, it contains milk.
For more on vegan beers see my article on the matter. Why beers may or may not be and how to check.
Big Drop Brewing notes
Alcohol-free Stout. Forget the notion this is a beer style that has had its day. Instead, think of it as honeycomb covered in chocolate, because that’s exactly what it tastes like: rich, unctuous and an absolutely decadent treat of a beer.
Ive reviewed this along side 5 other award winning beers, which will win?
8.5/10. Dropping a few for the nutrition but a lovely beer this. You can see why it wins lots of awards.
