They don’t come much bigger in the beer world than Budweiser and now they have a non alcoholic beer they will be looking to take over that arena with Budweiser Zero.
The non alcoholic and alcohol free market is relatively new so a lot of people have some questions about the new beers and what they are.

What type of beer is Budweiser Zero?
Budweiser is an American style lager. It is brewed with the best barley malt and a blend of premium hop varieties.
A lager is beer which has been brewed at a low temperature for a beer. Lagers can be dark, amber or pale.
Pale lagers are the most widely consumed and commercially available style of beer.
Lager is derived form the German for storage as the beer was stored and fermented in cool caves in Germany.
Most lagers use the same yeast, Saccharomyces pastorianus, a “bottom-fermenting” yeast that ferments at pretty cool temperatures.
Where is Budweiser Zero from?
Budweiser Zero is an American brand and owned by the giant AB InBev although the Budweiser and AB InBev founder is Adolphus Busch, who emigrated from Germany to USA in 1857.
What is Budweiser Zero nutrition profile?
Calories – 14kcal per 100ml
Carbohydrate – 3.3g per 100ml
Sugar – 0.1g per 100ml
Alcohol – 0.0% ABV
These are very good numbers in any drink let alone a beer. There are not many non alcoholic or alcohol free beers with fewer calories or as little sugar. This is a huge plus point for Budweiser Zero.

What are the ingredients of Budweiser Zero?
The ingredients are…
- Water
- Barley
- Hops
- Yeast
- Natural flavourings
- Rice
They have added “natural flavourings” which i’m always suspicious about but even more surprising is rice!
In today’s beer brewing industry, rice is primarily used as an adjunct in combination with barley malt.
As a brewing adjunct, rice has a very neutral flavour and aroma, and when properly converted in the brewhouse, it yields a light clean-tasting beer.
Is Budweiser Zero healthy?
Compared to many drinks then yes it is.
Heineken 0.0 is very low in calories and sugar. It is a good choice if you are trying to lose weight or switch away from alcohol which has a host of negative effects on your health.

How is Budweiser Zero made?
Budweiser Zero is brewed the same way as the regular beer through the same expert beechwood ageing technique.
The alcohol is then removed with vacuum distillation. This is a process whereby the beer is subject to a vacuum meaning it only needs heated to 30 degrees or so for the alcohol to distill out.
This low temperature keeps more of the volatile aromatic compounds that flavour the beer.
Is Budweiser Zero really alcohol free?
Labelling in the non alcoholic and alcohol free world are very confusing, with different countries having different rules.

Budweiser confirm their 0.0% beer has less than 0.05% ABV. This trace amount is basically zero and not biologically active when you drink it.
Can i drink Budweiser Zero on medication?
As Budweiser Zero contains less than 0.0% alcohol by volume, there is no problem with any drug interactions or if you have an alcohol intolerance.
Many foods have a much higher ABV than Budweiser Zero.
Is it safe to drink Budweiser Zero when pregnant?

No, you can not get drunk drinking Budweiser Zero.

In general you are unable to get drunk from non alcoholic (<0.5% ABV) beer and it is impossible to get drunk from alcohol free (0.0%) beer.
The volume of non alcoholic beer required to raise your blood alcohol concentration to the legal intoxication level is not possible to consume or digest.
Can you drink Budweiser Zero and drive?
You can drink any amount of Budweiser Zero and be completely safe to drive.
You can reasonably drink up to 400 bottles of alcohol free beer (<0.05% ABV) without increasing your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above the legal limit of 0.08%.
What does Budweiser Zero taste like?

What can i say about the taste. It doesn’t really taste like the regular Budweiser but its not stand out either.
It’s lacking something, be that extra sugar or if not that then just a bigger flavour punch.
Its a bit weak, there isn’t a lot of hops and its not the most refreshing alcohol free lager on the market. It’s fallen in to the trap of being watery and empty without flavour or sugar.

Is Budweiser Zero halal?
As a beer that contains zero alcoholic i think it can be considered as halal.
As a general rule, alcohol free beer can be Halal. The beer needs to be 0.0% ABV for the strict Islamic Law to deem it Halal. Nearly all the major beer brands are producing zero alcohol beers.
Not all non or low alcoholic beers are 0.0%, meaning it is critical to read the label.

Is Budweiser Zero gluten free?
No.
Budweiser contains barley which is gluten containing and therefore not gluten free.

Is Budweiser Zero vegan?
Yes, although it is yet to be confirmed on barnivore.com. Normal Budweiser is vegan.
