Can You Drink White Claw on Optavia

There are a huge number of diets out there at the minute. Some come in and out of fashion but the diet industry is always booming.

One of the most popular at the minute is the Optavia diet. I know from personal experience it can be hard to keep a track of what you can and can’t eat or simply what is the “least worst” option if you must have a treat.

The new kid on the alcohol market is the hard seltzer and the best seller is White Claw. They boast great flavours but with only 100kcal a 12fl oz can. But how do theses fit with the Optavia diet, can you drink White Claw on the Optavia diet?

Can you drink White Claw on the Optavia diet?

All alcohol is not recommended on the Optavia diet due to its poor nutritional value and relatively high calorie count. However, White Claw is one of the lowest calorie and carb alcoholic drinks so if you really can’t do without an alcoholic drink, they would be a great option in moderation.

It is easier to explain by having a look at the Optavia diet first of all and then the calories and carbs in alcohol

What is the Optavia diet?

The Optavia Diet is a weight-loss plan that offers pre-packaged meals, shakes, and snacks to its users. The diet claims to help people lose weight quickly and effectively by teaching them how to eat healthy, portion-controlled meals.

The Optavia Diet was created by Mark Herring, a registered dietitian and nutritionist. Herring developed the diet based on his own experience with obesity and weight loss.

Since its inception, the Optavia Diet has become one of the most popular weight-loss plans on the market. The diet has been featured in several national publications, including Women’s Health Magazine and Forbes.

The Optavia Diet is a low-calorie diet

How many calories do you eat on the Optavia diet?

The Optavia diet is a low-calorie, high-protein plan that promises quick and sustainable weight loss. The average person on the Optavia diet consumes between 1,200 and 1,800 calories per day, which is significantly less than the 2,000 to 2,500 calories recommended for most adults.

There are several different meal plans to choose from on the Optavia diet, but all of them emphasize lean protein, healthy fats, and fiber-rich vegetables and fruits.

Most people on the Optavia diet lose weight quickly and safely, though there are some risks associated with such a drastic reduction in calorie intake.

What can you not eat or drink on the Optavia diet?

There are a few things that are not allowed on the Optavia diet, including:

– Processed foods

– Refined sugars

– unhealthy fats

– Alcohol

– Caffeine

– artificial sweeteners

These are just a few of the things that are not allowed on the Optavia diet. It is important to read through the program guidelines carefully to make sure you are following the diet correctly.

Why is alcohol not recommended on Optavia diet?

There are a few reasons why alcohol is not recommended on the Optavia diet. For one, alcohol can quickly lead to weight gain, as it is high in calories and sugar.

Additionally, alcohol can interfere with the body’s natural ability to burn fat, making it more difficult to lose weight on the Optavia diet.

Finally, alcohol can also dehydrate the body and make it more difficult to stick to the diet plan.

What is the best alcohol to drink on Optavia diet?

As stated above, alcohol is not recommended but if you really must then the best options are the lowest calorie and lowest carb versions.

This would usually mean just a straight spirit with no mixer, however this can be unpalatable for most people.

A 1.5fl oz shot of vodka or gin would have about 97kcal and no carbs. If you compare this to most of the hard seltzers then the are not very far off.

White Claw will have exactly the same amount of alcohol as a shot of vodka, 14g of pure alcohol, but will have 2g of carbs per 12fl oz can. This brings up the overall calorie count to 100kcal for a 12fl oz can.

So as you can see, White Claw is very nearly a best in class alcoholic drink if you have to drink one.

How many calories are in beer?

A standard beer has 153kcal in a 12fl oz serving and 12.6g of carbs in a 12fl oz serving. This puts beer on a far higher calorie and carb level than White Claw so you can see the hard seltzers are a much better option if you are limiting your calorie intake.

How many White Claws to get drunk?

One of the things to avoid when drinking alcohol on the Optavia diet is getting drunk. This would mean you have drank quite a lot of calories and are at higher risk of bad snacking and food choices.

So how many White Claws does it take to get drunk?

The CDC states it takes the average 160lb adult male, 4 standard beers to get drunk. A standard beer is 12fl oz and 5% ABV which is the same as a White Claw. The 4 White Claws have to be drank over 1-2 hours. If you are a female or lighter then it will take less White Claws, if you are a significantly heavier male, it may take 5+ White Claws to get drunk.
